Machine Boring & Trenching

Our heavy‑duty equipment delivers precise open trenches for pipes and cables, precise horizontal boring under driveways, with expert backfill and site restoration—keeping your landscape intact and your project on schedule.

Underground Work Done Correctly

When utilities need to go underground, soil has to be opened up. There’s no way around that.

Trenching and boring will disturb sections of turf. Boring equipment can leave surface marks from machine tracks. That’s simply part of the process.

At Precision Sprinkler Systems Inc., we focus on careful planning, accurate installation, and clear expectations from the start.

Our Services Include:

  • Open trenching for irrigation and water lines
  • Electrical and conduit trenching
  • Horizontal boring under driveways and sidewalks
  • Utility line placement
  • Backfill of trenches

What to Expect

We backfill all trenches once installation is complete. However, visible trench lines and soil settling are normal and should be expected. Most properties take a full growing season for turf to fully blend back in. If additional restoration, topsoil, or material is requested, we’re happy to provide it and price accordingly.

We believe in being upfront about the process so there are no surprises.

Why Installation Still Matters

Even though the work is underground, proper depth, layout, and planning reduce long-term issues and future repairs. We take the time to:

  • Map runs before digging
  • Maintain consistent depth
  • Avoid existing utilities
  • Minimize unnecessary equipment passes

Because underground shortcuts tend to show up later.

F.A.Q.S

What is the difference between machine boring and open trenching?

Open trenching cuts a visible channel in the ground for pipe or cable installation, while machine boring (directional drilling) creates subsurface pathways without continuous surface excavation—minimizing landscape disruption.

How deep and wide are your trenches?

Standard trenches range from 6"–18" deep by 4"–12" wide for irrigation and utilities. We can adjust dimensions for specialty lines (e.g., electrical conduit) to meet code and project specs.

What utilities can you install with boring?

We handle irrigation mains, electrical conduit, data cables, gas lines, and more. Our precise equipment lets us navigate around existing utilities safely—minimizing risk and surface disruption.

When should I choose trenchless boring over open trenching?

Boring is ideal under driveways, sidewalks, or mature plantings where surface restoration would be costly; open trenching is more economical for straight‑line runs in soft landscapes.
